মাদল নামটি পছন্দের। মাদল বাজায় যারা, লোকজ গানের প্রথম সন্তান তারা। মেয়েরা বাজায় না, বাজায় পুরুষরা, সেই তালে নেচে ওঠেন সাঁওতাল রমণীরা। কি যে রমণীয় দৃশ্য, ভাষায় বোঝান যায় না। সিলেটের মেয়েরা গায় ধামাইল, সেই সঙ্গে ধামাইল নাচ। টেলিভিশনে পঞ্চাশ বছর ধরে দেখিয়েছি। শ্রীমঙ্গলে এলে হিন্দু মেয়েদের এই অপূর্ব নৃত্য দেখাতে পারব। নাচ ছাড়া গান নেই, গান ছাড়া নাচ নেই, দুটির হাত ধরে দুটি। সেই সঙ্গে মাদল। তপন রায় আমার প্রিয় ব্যক্তি, নানা কারণে । তাঁকে অনুভব করেছি তার কর্মে। দুই বাংলার সম্পদ লোক গান। মেয়েদের লোকগানের দল “মাদল”-এর সংগে হাতে হাত ধরে আসুন, একে আরও সামনের দিকে নিয়ে যাই।

I like the name Madol. Those who play in Madol are the first children of folk songs. Women don’t play instrument. Men play them. And santhal women dance with the beat. Such a beautiful picture can’t be described in words. Women in syllet sing dhamail and dance with it.

I have shown it in television for 50 years. I can show these Hindu women dance if you come in shrimangal. There is no song without dance, no dance without song- they go hand in hand. And with them goes Madol. Tapan roy is my close friend for various reasons. I feel his concept in his works. The folk songs are treasure of both the Bengals. Let’s join hand in hand with Madol and help it step ahead.
