দীর্ঘদিন লোকসংগীত নিয়ে কাজ করতে করতে শুধুমাত্র মেয়েদের নিয়ে একটি লোকগানের দল গড়ার প্রয়োজন অনুভব করি বেশ কয়েক বছর আগে এবং তা বাস্তবে রূপ নেওয়া মাত্রই বাংলা লোকসংগীতপ্রিয় শ্রোতাদের মন জয় করে এই দলটি। “মাদল” আমার কাছে একটি Concept, গ্রাম্যগীতি চর্চা ক্ষেত্র, যা মূলত মেয়েদের ঘিরে, কখনই তা কিছু নিদৃষ্ট মুখের প্রতিনিধিত্ব নয়, । তাই “মাদল” মূলত মেয়েদের লোকগানের দল এবং লোকগানে মেয়েদের কেন্দ্র করে, বিশেষ করে গ্রামীণ সমাজের মেয়েদের যে– সুখ-দুঃখ,হাসি-কান্না ,বেদনা-বিচ্ছেদ,আচার-অনুষ্ঠান ইত্যাদি বিভিন্ন বিষয়গুলির প্রকাশ ঘটে যে সমস্ত লোকগানগুলিতে সেই গানগুলি নাগরিক সমাজের কাছে তুলে ধরার কাজটি মাদল করে চলেছে নিরন্তর । যেমন ভাটিয়ালি,ধামাইল, মুরশিদি, মারফতি, বিয়ের গান, ঘাটু গান, ভাদু, টুসু, ঝুমুর, ভাওয়াইয়া ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি । লোকসঙ্গীতের presentation বা পরিবেশনশৈলী হল লোকসঙ্গীতের প্রাণ । যা প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে গেলে চাই সঠিক পথপ্রদর্শক বা পরিচালক । যা আমি নিজে উপলব্ধি করি আমার শিক্ষক শ্রদ্ধেয় দিনেন্দ্র চৌধুরীর নিকট দীর্ঘদিন লোকসংগীত শিক্ষা নেওয়ার পর । আমি কৃতজ্ঞ আমার গুরু দিনেন্দ্র চৌধুরী মহোদয়ের নিকট, কারণ “মাদল” গড়ার ক্ষেত্রেও প্রতি পদে পদে আমি তাঁর যুক্তিনিষ্ঠ পরামর্শ ও সহযোগিতা নিয়েই এগিয়েছি। লোকসংগীত নিয়ে আমার ভাবনা-চিন্তার প্রকাশ ঘটে যেমন আমার নিজের পরিবেশনে বা বিভিন্ন সময় প্রকাশিত আমার অ্যালবামগুলিতে, তেমনি তার প্রকাশ ঘটে আমার গড়া লোকগানের দলগুলির(মাদল,মুক্তবেড়ি,সহযাত্রী,লোকায়ত,বাহিরানা) পরিবেশনেও। আমি আনন্দিত ও পাশাপাশি গর্বিতও যে, লোকসংগীতপ্রিয় শ্রোতারা আমার গড়া দলগুলির গান পছন্দই শুধু করেন না, তাদের কাজকে ভালবেসে কাছে টেনেও নেন । আমি কৃতজ্ঞ ।।

I have been working on folk songs for long. I felt the need to form a women only folk team few years ago and it touched the heart of the fold song lovers as soon as it came into reality. Madol is a concept to me. It is never to focus on some particular faces but to enrich the practice and flavor of the rural songs which is women centric. That’s why Madol works to present the songs to our society and portrays the laughter, sorrow, agony of separation, rituals, and occasions of those rural women through the folk songs like Vatiyali, Dhamail, Murshidi, marfati, weddings songs, Ghatu songs, Tusu, Vadu,Jhumur, Bhawaiya etc. The presentation is the soul of the folk songs which demands a true guide to accomplish. I have tried to give my wisdom to which I achieved from my guru respected Dinendra Chowdhury. I am grateful to him because I have seek his valuable advice even to form Madol. My folk song concept is expressed in my own presentations and in my own albums as well as in the presentation of the bands, I have made like Madol,Muktoberi,Sohojatri,Lokayoto, bahirana. I am happy and proud that folk song lovers noit only like my bands but embraced them with love. I am grateful.
