‘মাদল’ বলে যে সংস্থাটি তার মধ্যে সবাই মেয়ে। আমাদের পূর্ববাংলায় বিয়ের সময় যে গান হত, মেয়েরা ছাড়া হত না, আর বিয়ের সময় যে গান হত, মেয়েরাই গাইতেন। তাতে থাকতো ধামাইল, জলভরার গান, বৌ নাচের গান ইত্যাদি। আর এগুলো তো লোকসংঙ্গীতে মধ্যেই পড়ে— মেয়েদের গলায় সে সব গান গুলো যেমন- ‘রবো না রবোনা বন্ধু বিনে প্রান বাঁচেনা’, ‘সইগো কী ঠমকে হাঁটে,শ্যামচান্দের পাছে যেমন ময়ূর পেখম ধরে’ — এই সব গান গুলো নারী কন্ঠ ছাড়া সুন্দর হবে না। আমরা গাই অনেক সময় — যেমন—‘ওরে ভাটিয়াল গাঙের পানি একটু থাকিয়া শুনিয়া যাও মোর দুঃখের কাহিনী’ — এটি মেয়ে কন্ঠের গান — কেন এই গানটা গায়? বন্ধু চলে গেছে বন্ধু না থাকলে আমার দিন রাত কাটেনা — এই রকম আর কি। ভাওয়াইয়া, চটকা ইত্যাদি — এইসব গান নারী কন্ঠে যতটা ভালো লাগে —যেমন- ‘ওরে গাড়িয়াল রে, গাড়িয়াল আস্তে করে চালান তোমার গাড়ি, ছাড়িয়া যাইতে মায়া নাগে দয়ার বাপের বাড়ি’, গরুর গাড়িতে যখন বাপের বাড়ি থেকে শ্বশুরবাড়ি নিয়ে যেত — তখন তাদের কষ্ট দুঃখ কে প্রকাশ করত এইসব গান গেয়ে। এইসব গান আমাদের লোকসঙ্গীত। আর ‘মাদল’ এইসমস্ত গানগুলোই তুলে আনে শ্রোতাদের কাছে। বাংলার বাইরেও — আদিবাসি বা সাঁওতালী নাচ, গান —টিভি-র মাধ্যমে এখন যেমন এসব দেখার সুযোগ আছে, আগে তা যেত না। ‘মাদল’ বলে সংস্থাটিতে সবাই নারী, আমার অতি স্নেহের তপন(রায়) আছে এই দলটির পিছনে, আর আমার দীর্ঘদিনের পুরনো ছাত্রী রীতাও প্রথম থেকেই আছে এই দলে— আমার ইচ্ছে এটি যেন অনেক দূর এগিয়ে যায়। আমরা আগে শুনতাম নারীরা ঘরে থাকে, বাইরে বেরোয় না কিন্তু নারীশক্তি যে একটি সাংঘাতিক শক্তি মা কালী তার জ্বলন্ত উদাহরণ। নারী শক্তি বড় সাংঘাতিক শক্তি আমাদের সবাইকে তার পেছনে থাকা উচিত। ‘মাদল’-এর গান সারা পৃথিবীর লোকসংগীতপ্রিয় মানুষদের মনে জায়গা করে নিক এটাই আমি চাই মনেপ্রাণে এবং তাদের প্রতি আমার শুভেচ্ছা ও আশীর্বাদ রইলো ।।
There are all female singers in the Band named “Madol”. In east Bengal which is Bangaladesh now, during a marriage ceremony, various kind of marriage songs are mostly sung by the female singers. Songs like Dhamail, Jolbhorar Gan, Bou nacher gan are sung during the marriage. These all are included in Folk songs. Songs like “ami robona robona grihe bondhu bine pran bnachena”, “soi go ki thomoke hate” are most beautifully sung in female vocals. Though we use to sing sometime “ore bhatiyal ganger pani ektu thakiya suniya jao mor dukkher kahini”, it is a song best expressed by a woman. Why? Because it’s like, without my beloved person, I am suffering a great pain. Songs like Bhawaiya, Chatka such as, “Ore gariyal re, gariyal aste kore chalan tomar gari, chhariya jaite maya lage doyal baper barire”, were sung by the women to express their sorrow when after marriage they were taken to their in laws’ houses. These all are Bengali folk songs. “Madol” the folk band is striving on presenting these songs to their audience. There are all female singers in this band directed by my beloved Tapan (Roy). And Rita, my dear student is one of the founding members of this band. May they can prosper with all their possibilities. I wish that they can make their own position in this musical world with their music and songs. My all best wishes are with them
